Equality for Everyone

Marriage equality is a big topic around the United States today. The girl that came into our classroom and encouraged us to vote no against the marriage discrimination amendment, is what made me decide to make marriage equality my topic. When she told her story about why she was in Minnesota and about her significant other and their future together, I realized that this issue is affecting a lot of individuals around the country. Gays and lesbians aren’t being given the happiness that they deserve. Love is love; there is nothing you can do to control what gender you may fall in love with. Gays and lesbians have the same kind of love for their significant other as straight people do. Marriage should be between a spouse and a spouse, not a gender and a gender.

  1. I completely agree with you about marriage equality. My only comment is to maybe clarify your closing statement.

  2. Peyton, I also agree with you about marriage equality and how you can't help who you fall in love with or what you prefer. People are stuck in the traditional way of getting married, it's 2012 times are changing. Cute picture as well!

  3. The thing that bothers me the most is that everyone probably knows someone in the life who doesn't define themselves as heterosexual. I can't see how someone wouldn't want to be supportive of their friends or family. Love should be able to open closed minds and hearts!

  4. This is a great picture. It shows that it doesnt matter if it is a man and man, women and women, or man and women in a relationship it is still love. Everyone should be able to express their love equally.
